NEW APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
We understand it can be frustrating not to be able to get access to a GP or Nurse when you want, and hope this guidance helps explain the ways you can best access support when needed. We are continually trying to improve our service in terms of appointment availability and flexibility. We would like to remind you of the following:
- You can often book up to 6 weeks in advance with a GP or Nurse. This is usually more useful if you prefer to see a specific GP for on-going or long-term problems, e.g. diabetes, long-term pain, mental health problems
- We reserve some appointments to improve access for urgent ‘on-the-day’ problems, for example most infections or an injury. Demand for these appointments is usually high. If you need urgent ‘on-the-day’ advice, an alternative to a GP appointment is a telephone consultation. Leave a message with reception and the duty GP will call you back , and together we will decide if an urgent appointment is needed, or discuss alternative help
- The Nurses are also available for telephone consultation, mainly for long-term condition monitoring, wound advice, or immunisations.
Pharmacy First, this is a service provided by local Pharmacists, who can advise you about many conditions including: Fever / Head lice / Threadworm / Chicken pox / Conjunctivitis Thrush / Piles / Diarrhoea / Cold Sore / Teething / Vaginal Thrush / Constipation
